Literary Week 2020 was an event full of reading, reciting and renditions! Each form of Junior School had chosen a genre, an author, a poet, or a series and worked around that theme in weaving online literary magic.
Pravesh Vatika was introduced to the illustrator Eric Carle and displayed their works of art. The Upvans travelled around the world from, Egypt to the Galapagos islands, through Laurie Kerb’s books. Form I enjoyed the children’s stories lovingly written by the writer and philanthropist, Sudha Murthy. Our school even hosted an online interaction with Mrs Murthy, which was full of fun, laughter, and joy. From one Grandma’s Bag of Stories to another, the children of Form II listened to stories from the Panchatantra by their grandparents! The enchantment continued with Form III as they explored the Magic Faraway Tree and dressed up as various eccentric characters from the book. The sleuths of Form IV solved many mysteries by donning the hats of the Secret Seven, complete with passwords and badges! Long John Silver visited Form V as they enacted excerpts from the Treasure Island by RL Stevenson.
The children literally dropped everything and read; a habit we are committed towards enhancing.
