22nd April, 2019 saw The Shri Ram School, Aravali abuzz with excitement and activity. The annual mega environment event, Shri Dhara was celebrated with great gusto. The theme chosen this year was Biomimicry. Biomimicry is an approach to innovation that seeks sustainable solutions to human challenges by emulating nature’s time-tested patterns and strategies.
The inauguration of the day began by watering the ‘Tulsi’ plant in a ceremonial gesture towards safeguarding the green environs of mother earth.
Yashvi Mittal, the head of Environment, Senior Aravali did a presentation on biomimicry, giving interesting and informative examples like that of the burr inspired velcro and squid inspired camouflaged military uniforms. This was followed by the inter school presentations of the two categories, mimes and raps. Several schools from Delhi and NCR participated with powerful performances to present their interpretations of biomimicry, keeping the audience spell bound. The participating schools were gifted a platter containing seed bombs (a mixture of mud, compost and seeds) along with their certificates. The global citizens of tomorrow realised that all we need to do is learn from nature!
